Mother Emanuel Way

It is a noble gesture, to be sure, but since the tragedy that occurred in this church, guns have been involved in many more deaths in the low-country. Time to consider sensible gun control. We have too many guns in the hands of too many who have no training. Time for mandatory gun safety courses. We have too many handguns. Time for background checks. Will legislation ensure that no one will die from gun violence? Of course not. Going to church does not make you any less of a sinner, but that is no reason to abandon them.

We need to end the hate. We need to make violence un-cool. We need to demand bi-partisan dialogue, and end the extreme nature of our discourse. Only then will we honor those we have lost.

Talk about South Carolina!
